The magnificent white flowered Nerine laticoma
is found over a wide area of the Limpopo River basin
from north of Lephalele to Alldays. The largest
most magnificent forms occur near Lephalele in
arid sandy bushveld.

White flowered Nerine laticoma in bud, after
good rains north of Lephalele in Limpopo Province.
The buds and flowers sometimes have a pinkish bloom.
Seeds of white flowered N. laticoma are offered in February and March and bulbs are available
through Penrock Plants. Some special bulbs with
huge umbels of white flowers like Brunsvigias
are available from time to time through
Penrock Specialist Flora.

Aloes are one of the specialities of Penrock Seeds. Aloe integra is one of the most magnificent of South Africa’s grass aloe species with its lime green leaves and canary yellow flowers. This plant was photographed in habitat near Badplaas, Mpumalanga in the early spring, after a winter grass fire.

This very unusual apparently highly localised ornithogalum
species grows in fissures of exposed dolomite east of
Mafikeng in the North West Province. The cryptic leaf is
covered in short ivory bristles and it appears after autumn
rainfall. An umbel of white and tan coloured flowers
appears in late June or July as the leaf withers.
This plant may remain dormant for several years in
succession if the autumn rains are poor.
Seeds are listed on the Penrock Seed list and plants
are stocked in small numbers by Penrock Specialist Flora.
