Pancratium tenuifolium bulbs produce masses of
spirally twisted
leaves in the early summer after
the first good rainstorms. This
plant was photographed
in the arid sandy bushveld near Lephalele
in
Limpopo Province. The nursery stocks bulbs of
this Pancratium
species and the seeds are also
listed by Penrock Seeds.
The beautiful white flowers of an ornamental undescribed
Brunsvigia species from the Pela area of the Northern Cape.
These plants flower after early autumn rainfall and produce
leaves in the later autumn months of April and May.
They may
remain dormant for several years in
succession during severe droughts.
